ACETYL CHLORIDE is a colorless, corrosive, volatile fuming liquid with a pungent odor. Acetyl chloride is derived form of acetic acid an acyl chloride. Acetyl chloride belongs to the class of organic compounds called acyl halides.
Application::
Acetyl chloride appears as a colorless, fuming liquid with a pungent odor. Density 9.2 lb / gal. Flash point 40°F. Vapor, which is heavier than air, irritates the eyes and mucous membranes. Corrosive to metals and tissue .

MAJOR APPLICATIONS Used as acetylating agent in chemical synthesis.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS Causes severe burn to every area of contact. May be fatal if swallowed or inhaled.
